(08-26) 04:00 PDT Sacramento -- The federal government has barred two relatives of a Lodi man convicted of supporting terrorists from returning to the country after a lengthy stay in Pakistan, placing the U.S. citizens in an extraordinary legal limbo. The crime here that seems to be keeping these two Americans from returning to the only country they're legally allowed to reside is either A) being related to somebody convicted of supporting terrorism, or B) refusing to be interrogated by the FBI without counsel present, except it's hard to tell— because the Americans in question haven't been charged with anything.

They're just not being allowed back into the country.
